Nitrox in Hurghada: Course Prices and Per-Tank Cost

Four of our tracked Red Sea operators around Hurghada list a nitrox (enriched air) course, and the prices are far apart: EUR 70 at Aquarius Red Sea to EUR 180 at White Dolphin Diving Center and Diamond Red Sea. The shops don't count the course the same way, with 1 dive at IDive Diving Center and 2 dives at Aquarius and White Dolphin, so compare dive count and what is included before price. Separately, three shops list a per-tank nitrox price for divers who are already certified.

    Aquarius Red Sea lists the PADI Nitrox Course at EUR 70 for 2 dives over 1 day. IDive Diving Center lists a Nitrox Course (1 dive) at EUR 110, estimated EUR 205 all-in. White Dolphin Diving Center lists a Nitrox Specialty (2 dives) at EUR 180 and Diamond Red Sea lists the PADI Nitrox course at EUR 180 over 1 day. For certified divers, nitrox is EUR 3 a tank at IDive Diving Center, EUR 4 a tank at Aquarius Red Sea and EUR 7 a tank at White Dolphin Diving Center (12 or 15 litre).

Getting there

  • Fly to Sharm el-Sheikh (SSH) on the Sinai Peninsula, or Hurghada (HRG) on the mainland - both have direct charter and scheduled flights from Europe.
  • Marsa Alam (RMF) serves the south.
  • Dahab is reached by bus or taxi from Sharm (1.5 hr).
  • Each base has a distinct character, choose it before you book accommodation.
  • Check current government travel advisories for the Sinai region before travelling.

Minimum stay

4 nights (7+ for liveaboards to far sites)

Good for your first trip if

Open Water minimum for most sites. Advanced OW recommended for Ras Mohammed and liveaboard itineraries (current, depth). Thistlegorm is manageable for OW divers with a guide; interior penetration is Advanced. Hyperbaric chambers in Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada. Dahab's Blue Hole is dangerous, never attempt the Arch (56 m) without full technical training.

Know before you go

  • Well-equipped hyperbaric facilities in Sharm and Hurghada.
  • Dahab's Blue Hole has a disproportionate accident record, never push depth here, and avoid the Arch without full technical training.
  • Currents at Ras Mohammed and the Brothers can be unpredictable.
  • Drink only bottled water.
  • Sun protection on surface intervals is critical in summer months.
