Discover Scuba Diving in Hurghada: Intro Dive Prices Compared

Five of our tracked Red Sea operators around Hurghada list an intro dive for people who have never dived: EUR 40-95. Four of them cluster at EUR 40-55, three stating two dives; IDive Diving Center is the outlier at EUR 95 for a discovery dive from the boat, with nitrox, torch and computer as extras. Funnydivers lists a Scuba Diver course instead, which is a different product and isn't included in this comparison.

    White Dolphin Diving Center lists an introductory dive of 2 dives at EUR 40, with a computer at EUR 5 and an additional dive at EUR 15. Diamond Red Sea lists Introductory Diving (DSD) at EUR 50 for 2 dives with a computer at EUR 5. Dive Nemo Hurghada lists an intro dive at EUR 50 with equipment recorded as included. Tauchen Hurghada lists an intro dive at EUR 55 for 2 dives. IDive Diving Center lists a discovery dive from the boat at EUR 95, with nitrox at EUR 3 a tank, a torch at EUR 7 a dive and a computer at EUR 7 a dive as extras.

Getting there

  • Fly to Sharm el-Sheikh (SSH) on the Sinai Peninsula, or Hurghada (HRG) on the mainland - both have direct charter and scheduled flights from Europe.
  • Marsa Alam (RMF) serves the south.
  • Dahab is reached by bus or taxi from Sharm (1.5 hr).
  • Each base has a distinct character, choose it before you book accommodation.
  • Check current government travel advisories for the Sinai region before travelling.

Minimum stay

4 nights (7+ for liveaboards to far sites)

Good for your first trip if

Open Water minimum for most sites. Advanced OW recommended for Ras Mohammed and liveaboard itineraries (current, depth). Thistlegorm is manageable for OW divers with a guide; interior penetration is Advanced. Hyperbaric chambers in Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada. Dahab's Blue Hole is dangerous, never attempt the Arch (56 m) without full technical training.

Know before you go

  • Well-equipped hyperbaric facilities in Sharm and Hurghada.
  • Dahab's Blue Hole has a disproportionate accident record, never push depth here, and avoid the Arch without full technical training.
  • Currents at Ras Mohammed and the Brothers can be unpredictable.
  • Drink only bottled water.
  • Sun protection on surface intervals is critical in summer months.

No. These are the shops' beginner products. Funnydivers' Scuba Diver course (EUR 260) and the other Scuba Diver courses are certification courses, a different thing from an intro dive.
